Your screen goes straight from one device to the other over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection whenever a direct route is available. If your network blocks that, it falls back to an encrypted relay — still encrypted end to end, and never stored. Sharing stays off until you switch it on, and every incoming connection has to be approved on the machine being shared. There is no silent connect.
